LSUS Lincoln Center
06/13/06
Three Caddo Parish middle school teachers, Sharman Burgess, Kristi
McNeal Wolf and Katherene Loften, have been awarded fellowships
from the LSUS International Lincoln Center for American Studies.
The Fellowships will allow the three teachers to attend the
annual Summer Teacher Institute conducted at Colonial Williamsburg
in
July. Each fellowship covers tuition, registration, room/board,
transportation and educational materials. Burgess serves as the American History Gateway teacher at Youree
Middle School. She holds an M.Ed. degree plus thirty additional
graduate hours. In 1980 she was the Caddo Teacher of the Year.
Wolf teaches at Caddo Middle Magnet, and received an M.Ed.
degree from LSUS.
Loften teaches at Ridgewood Middle School, and received her
undergraduate degree from LSUS.
These fellowships for Caddo secondary teachers were first
offered in 1998, and to date there have been 26 recipients.
The fellowships
are made possible by a grant to the International Lincoln
Center from the Community Foundation of Shreveport-Bossier.
