TeachLSUS Fall application deadline is Wednesday (5/31)

Wednesday (May 31) is the deadline for future teachers to apply for the TeachLSUS Fall 2006 alternative teacher certification program. Applicants must be prepared to take the Praxis II exam on Saturday, June 10. Stand-by testing is possible for applicants not already registered for the exam.

Of the 137 applications received for the Summer 2006 TeachLSUS, 65 candidates (47.4 percent) were chosen to participate.

TeachLSUS is an initiative to recruit, select and train outstanding educators for the community’s classrooms, and is dedicated to preparing knowledgeable, skilled and professional teachers. Participants in the program can work as a full-time, salaried teacher while earning a Louisiana teaching certificate. TeachLSUS prepares candidates for careers as professional educators. Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree and a minimum overall 2.5 undergraduate grade-point average. TeachLSUS offers certification in mild/moderate special education, elementary education and secondary education. No previous education coursework or experience is required.
