| Reed Dickens to deliver LSUS commencement

Reed Dickens, a 2000 graduate of LSUS and a former assistant White
House press secretary under President George W. Bush, will deliver
the LSUS spring commencement address at 7 p.m. on Wednesday (May
17) at the CenturyTel Center in Bossier City.
Dickens will also receive the LSUS Alumni Association’s 2006
Distinguished Alumnus Award. Following his graduation from LSUS six years ago, Dickens joined
the Bush presidential election campaign and was involved in the
Florida vote-counting watch. He served as the assistant press
secretary at the White House from 2001 to 2003, and then
went on to be a
national spokesperson for the 2004 Bush campaign, where he was
seen debating on CNN, FOX and MSNBC. He moved to California after
the 2004 Presidential Election and served as a communications
consultant for Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger before founding
Outside Eyes, a
Newport Beach, Calif., based public relations strategy and crisis
management consulting firm. “
The communications curricula at LSUS served as the foundation for
every job I’ve had thus far,” Dickens commented, “from
the White House to running a company that serves CEOs, celebrities
and athletes.” His wife, Sofia, was seen on television during a three-year
stint as a video correspondent on the game show Jeopardy!
More recently,
she was seen in classrooms all over America as the host of Channel
One, a news and entertainment program for teens.
