Reed Dickens to deliver LSUS commencement address
05/09/06

Reed Dickens, a 2000 graduate of LSUS and a former assistant White House press secretary under President George W. Bush, will deliver the LSUS spring commencement address at 7 p.m. on Wednesday (May 17) at the CenturyTel Center in Bossier City.

Dickens will also receive the LSUS Alumni Association’s 2006 Distinguished Alumnus Award.

Following his graduation from LSUS six years ago, Dickens joined the Bush presidential election campaign and was involved in the Florida vote-counting watch. He served as the assistant press secretary at the White House from 2001 to 2003, and then went on to be a national spokesperson for the 2004 Bush campaign, where he was seen debating on CNN, FOX and MSNBC. He moved to California after the 2004 Presidential Election and served as a communications consultant for Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger before founding Outside Eyes, a Newport Beach, Calif., based public relations strategy and crisis management consulting firm.

“ The communications curricula at LSUS served as the foundation for every job I’ve had thus far,” Dickens commented, “from the White House to running a company that serves CEOs, celebrities and athletes.”

His wife, Sofia, was seen on television during a three-year stint as a video correspondent on the game show Jeopardy! More recently, she was seen in classrooms all over America as the host of Channel One, a news and entertainment program for teens.
