LSUS India Studies program sponsoring
essay contest

The LSUS India Studies program, in cooperation with Caddo Parish
Schools, is sponsoring an essay contest open to all public and
private high school students in Caddo Parish. Cash prizes of $150,
$100 and $50 will be awarded to the first, second and third place
winners. The submission deadline is Tuesday, May 16.
The topic for the maximum 1,000-word essay is, “Comparing
Democracy in the U.S. and India: Two-Party vs. Multi-Party Democracy.” Essays
must be typewritten, double-spaced, in 12-point Times New Roman
font, with one-inch margins. Entries should be submitted to Pamela Anderson at Caddo Parish
Magnet High School. Public school students may send entries through
the “gray box” and private school students may mail
their entries to Mrs. Anderson at Caddo Magnet High School, 1601
Viking Drive, Shreveport, LA 71101. The entries will be judged
by a panel representing Caddo Parish Schools, LSUS and the community
