LSUS Jazz Band to stage spring concert Tuesday

The LSUS Jazz Band, under the direction of Allen Swilley, will present its spring concert at 7 p.m. Tuesday (April 25) in the LSUS University Center Theater. The concert is free and open to the public.

Swilley said the concert will be “a little jazz from the early days to the present.” Among the selections to be played are “String of Pearls,” “Opus One,” “When the Saints Go Marching In,” “Sister Sadie” and “Jump, Jive and Wail.” The band is completing its second year as an academic offering on the LSUS campus. Competitive scholarships are available to student musicians.
