Robert Stewart, an LSUS sophomore computer science and biology
major from Jennings, won the Best Undergraduate Student Paper Competition
at the 80th Annual Louisiana Academy of Sciences Meeting Friday
(March 10) in Lafayette.
The LAS conference was held at the University of Louisiana Lafayette,
with nearly every public university in the state represented.
Stewart’s 20-minute presentation, “Trypanosome motility,
insights into auger-like cell movement,” was co-authored
by Dr. Nathan Hutchings, associate professor and chair of the LSUS
Department of Biological Sciences, and members of the Interdisciplinary
Experimentation and Scholarship Program at Northwestern State University.
Stewart’s award also carried a $150 cash prize.
