LSUS Alumni Association Hibernia Pilots Golf Classic
set for Friday, May 5, at Olde Oaks Golf Club
03/01/06

The 8th Annual LSUS Alumni Association Hibernia Pilots Golf Classic will fire off with a noon shotgun start Friday, May 5, at Olde Oaks Golf Club in Haughton. Hibernia National Bank will again serve as signature sponsor for the event and Congressman Jim McCrery has signed on as honorary tournament director.

The tournament has raised more than $80,000 in its history. Proceeds benefit LSUS athletic scholarships and academic scholarships. LSUS athletic director Doug Robinson, as well as the university’s men’s and women’s basketball coaches, Chad McDowell and Ronnie Howell, and women’s soccer coach Jed Jones will be on hand throughout the day.

The 18-hole tournament will be played on all three Olde Oaks courses, Oak, Meadow and Cypress. There are three flights, all by handicap. A total of 45 team slots are available, but only eight are left due to the overwhelming popularity of the tournament.

Tournament features include six Hole-In-One Contests sponsored by Landers Dodge and Courtesy Golf Cars, the Campus Federal Credit Union Putting Contest, a Long Drive Contest, the Chancellor’s Challenge, a silent auction and awards ceremony. Celebrity Drivers include LSUS Coaches and Robby McWilliams, with others to be added in the near future. First place prizes in each flight are weekend golfing packages at Carter Plantation, David Toms’ signature course in south Louisiana. Team prizes will be awarded through seventh place. A new surprise contest with a large cash prize is also in the works. Meals will be provided by McAlister’s Deli and Texas Roadhouse. Beverage sponsors are Eagle Distributing of Shreveport, Coca-Cola Bottling Company of Shreveport and Music Mountain Water Company. Sign and printing sponsors are Graphic Industries, Signs At Work and Insty-Prints.

The silent auction features LSU home game President’s Box tickets with a hotel package, signed LSU and professional sports memorabilia, 2005-06 Bossier Shreveport Mudbugs Gold Level Season Tickets and signed memorabilia, signed David Toms golf memorabilia, jewelry, cultural event tickets, restaurant packages and golf packages.

Entry fee covers greens fee, electric cart, practice range, tournament gifts, box lunch, beverages, supper and the chance to win fantastic prizes. Team sponsorship levels range from $500 to $2,000.
