The LSUS College
of Education & Human Development and the
LSUS Alumni Association will host a Family Reunion for all education,
psychology and kinesiology and health science graduates on Saturday,
Oct. 22, beginning at 10 a.m. in Business Education Building 113.
The reunion is the first of four academic college reunions to be
held on the LSUS campus this fall.
The informal
event offers a variety of activities for adults and children
ages 4-12. “We’ve planned something for everyone,” said
Dr. David Gustavson, dean of the college. “Alumni, their
spouses and guests, children and grandchildren are welcome.”
There is no cost for alumni and their guests, but reservations
must be made no later than October 15. Online registration is available
at www.lsus.edu/ehd/reunion. Or, call Dr. David Gustavson at 318-795-4279.
Gustavson and
others from the department will host a short welcome and registration
session. Then alumni will be able chat with favorite
professors, staff and fellow graduates. Other activities include
Education Tech Lab demonstrations by Mr. Jerry Antee, Model Classroom
demonstration by Dr. Debbie Williams, Kinesiology & Health
Science Lab demonstration by Dr. Jesse DeMello and a discussion
about graduate programs in psychology by Dr. Mary Margaret Lusk.
Alumni may join the LSUS Alumni Association and become charter
members of the EHD Alumni Chapter. The event also features gifts,
discount coupons and door prizes.
Activities
for children ages 4-12 will be supervised by current LSUS education
students.
Included are a Halloween Brew Fest hosted
by Dr. Martha Mangin, professor of education; face painting by
Dr. Keitha Rogers, assistant professor of education, and games
by the LSUS H&PE Majors Club, Psychology Club and LAE-SP.
Alumni and
their families will gather at noon for a hamburger and hotdog
picnic catered
by the LSUS Port. Following lunch, guests
are invited to attend the 1 p.m. Lady Pilots’ Gulf Coast
Athletic Conference soccer game against Belhaven College at the
LSUS Intercollegiate Soccer Field – called “The Swamp” – west
of the LSUS Baseball Stadium. The Lady Pilots, 7-2, have won seven
straight since dropping their first two inaugural-season games
to GCAC foe William Carey College and Northwestern State University,
a perennial NCAA Division I powerhouse picked to win the Southland
Conference championship. Reunion attendees will receive complimentary
admission to the game.
Parking will be available in the Business Education Building parking
lot on the LSUS campus. The door to the right of the building provides
handicapped access. There is an elevator in the southwest corner
of the building.
Reunions will be held for the College of Sciences on Tuesday,
Nov. 1, the College of Liberal Arts on Friday, Nov. 11, and the
College of Business Administration on Thursday, Nov. 17.
