LSUS initiates 30 into interdisciplinary
honor society

A total of 27 students and three LSUS faculty members were initiated
into the LSUS chapter of the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi Sunday
afternoon (April 24). The students included three graduate students,
13 seniors and 11 juniors.
The primary
goal of the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, America’s
oldest and most selective honor society, is the recognition of
superior scholarship in all disciplines – “the best
of the best across campus.”
The initiates and the hometowns of the students are:
Graduate
Students – Joan
Turek, of Bossier City; Kelley Lenderman, of Houston, and Nancy
Tracy, of Minden.
Seniors – Heather
M. Baucom, of Benton; Benjamin Carver, of Haughton; Olivia Burson
Greer, of Minden; James B. Allen, of
Mooringsport; and Chelsea Ann Dunbar, Kimberly S. Gandy, Jennifer
Nicole Herron, Rebecca D. Hitt, Seth Rider Marshall, Trista M.
Muse, Randy Racine, Brittany Skillern and Patricia Smith, all of
Shreveport.
Juniors – Tamora
Watters Dollar and Brenda Yonnes, both of Bossier City; Olga
A. Willett, of Greenwood; Amanda Phillips,
of Mooringsport; and Laura Elaine Deaton, Kristen Hergenrader,
Michael A. Marino, Kelly M. Milstead, Grace Nickels, Monica Pels
and Cheryl Salter, all of Shreveport.
Faculty – Candice Bagley, assistant professor of education
and director of field experiences for the College of Education
and Human Development; Dr. Chuo-Hsuan “Jason” Lee,
assistant professor of accounting, and Dr. John S. Vassar, assistant
professor of humanities and chair of the Department of Fine Arts,
Languages and Humanities.
