graduates to hear Johnette McCrery Wednesday

Dr. Johnette
McCrery, an LSUS assistant professor of public relations, will deliver
the commencement address for the spring 2004 LSUS graduating class
Wednesday (May 19) at the CenturyTel Center in Bossier City. Commencement
exercises begin at 7 p.m.
McCrery and her two sons,
Scott, 10, and Clark,8, will move permanently to the nation’s
capital this summer to join their husband and father U.S. Rep. Jim
McCrery (R-La.-4th), who will seek re-election this fall to the
congressional seat he has held since 1988.
Johnette McCrery will
join Ketchum Public Relations, the seventh largest public relations
firm in the world. She will serve as a Vice President of Public
Affairs and work in the firm’s Washington, D.C., office.
The popular LSUS faculty
member received a Bachelor of Journalism degree from the University
of Texas at Austin in 1989, a Master of Arts degree from LSUS in
1996 and a Ph.D. in mass communication from the University of Maryland
at College Park in 2001. She joined the LSUS faculty in the fall
of 2001.
She formerly worked as
a television reporter and anchor for KTAL-TV and as a consumer reporter
for KTBS-TV. While working at KTBS, she was named “Consumer
Reporter of the Year” by the Better Business Bureau. She has
also written extensively for newspapers and magazines in the area.
