to host three-week Ethics Conference

LSUS
will host an extended Ethics Conference on its campus beginning
Saturday, March 27, and running through Friday, April 16. The events,
coordinated by the LSUS Institute for Human Services and Public
Policy, are open to students, faculty, staff and general public.
March
27-28 – Debate tournament for high school students
on ethical issues.
March
29 – Ethics Essay Contest for LSUS students begins.
April
1 – “The Downloading of Music,” discussion
and Q&A session with Jonathan Whitehead, Recording Industry
Association of America vice president of online copyright protection,
and Stan Lewis, owner of Jewel-Paula-Ronn Records;10:30-11:15 a.m.
in the University Center Theater.
April
6 – “The Ethics of Taxation and Financial Reporting,”
Spencer Bernard, CPA with Heard, McElroy and Vestal; 10:30-11:15
a.m. in Bronson Hall 117.
April
8 – “Homer Simpson Faces an Ethical Dilemma,”
screening and discussion of this Simpson’s episode; 10:30-11:15
a.m. in the University Center Theater.
April
12 – “School Law: The Pyramid of Discrimination
Remedies,” conducted by Dr. Charles Manges and advanced graduate
students; 5-8 p.m. in Business and Education Room 113.
April
13 – “Changing Lanes” (2002), a film
by Roger Michell, a screening and discussion of this contemporary
morality play; 7 p.m. in Bronson Hall Room 310.
April
15 – “Ask the Ethicist Booth,” an entertaining
part of Spring Fling activities, with, Dr. Al Vekovius, Dr. Helen
Taylor, and Dr. John S. Vassar; 10:30-11:15 a.m. on the LSUS Mall.
April
16 – Ethics Essay Contest winner announced and awarded
a $100 LSUS Bookstore gift certificate and a framed certificate;
noon on the LSUS Mall. This announcement will conclude the Ethics
Conference.
