LSUS
to host Biomedical Informatics Symposium

The
2nd CERT (Consortium for Education, Research, and Technology of
North Louisiana) Biomedical Informatics Symposium will be held from
8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, April 2, in the LSUS University Center.
The
symposium is designed to bring together scientists, researchers,
practitioners, industry leaders, educators and students interested
in the application of informatics to biology and medicine. The symposium’s
scope ranges from computational tools for analysis of biological
systems to knowledge discovery for biomedicine, nanotechnology and
microsystems, health information management, and health care quality
improvement.
The
keynote speaker is Dr. Georges G. Grinstein, director of Institute
for Visualization and Perception Research and the Center for Biomolecular
and Medical Informatics at the University of Massachusetts-Lowell.
Other featured speakers include: Dr. Steven F. Jennings, of the
University of Arkansas-Little Rock Biomedical Research Network;
Dr. William Wischusen, of the LSU A&M Louisiana Biomedical Research
Network, and Charles McMahon, of the LSU A&M Center for Computation
and Technology. Presentations by recognized experts and workers
in the bioinformatics field from the CERT institutions will be featured
at lunch.
