LSUS Pilots crush Crusaders; finish fourth in conference

The LSUS Pilots crushed the William Carey College Crusaders, 98-81, Saturday night in Hattiesburg, Miss., to finish their inaugural Gulf Coast Athletic Conference regular basketball season tied for fourth place in the conference. The Pilots (20-11, 12-6 GCAC) were deadlocked in the final conference standings with Dillard University (N.O.), only one game back of the three-way first place tie among the University of Mobile, Xavier University (N.O.) and Southern University-New Orleans, all with 13-5 conference records.

The Pilots, who won 11 of their last 12 conference match-ups, will take a week off before traveling to New Orleans for the GCAC Men's Basketball Championship Tournament March 10-13.

The Lady Pilots (8-20, 4-14 GCAC) dropped their contest in Hattiesburg to the Lady Saders, 84-68, and finished tied with Tougaloo College (Jackson, Miss.) for last place in the conference. The GCAC Women's Basketball Championship Tournament begins Wednesday (March 3) in New Orleans.
