| ‘Generational
diversity’ to be workshop topic
02/12/04
There
is a growing awareness of “generational diversity” in
the workplace. Older, middle-aged and younger staff members may
share common work tasks, but their values, approaches to work, communication
styles and perceptions of each other may differ greatly.
These
issues will be the topic of a Tuesday, March 23, workshop from 1-4
p.m. at the University Club.. The workshop, sponsored by the LSUS
Institute for Human Services and Public Policy and Service Connection,
will explore some of the generational differences and provide useful
approaches to creating a work environment that is productive and
compatible for everyone.
Karen
Roth, director of the Diversity Education Program for the Office
of Campus Community Relations at the University of California-Davis,
will be the workshop presenter. Her commitment to teaching and training
spans more than 20 years of facilitating educational experiences
in university and community college settings. She received her master’s
degree in counseling from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater,
and has been at UC-Davis for 16 years.
The
workshop will immediately follow the Fifth Annual Philanthropy Luncheon,
which will honor Willis-Knighton CEO Jim Elrod for his outstanding
work in the community. The luncheon begins at 11:30 a.m.
