Lady Pilots thump Tyler, 70-56
11/23/03
The LSUS Lady Pilots took the floor in Tyler, Texas, Saturday night
versus the University of Texas at Tyler Patriots. A trip to Conway,
Ark., Friday saw the Lady Pilots drop a heartbreaker to Hendrix
College. Saturday, the women hit the highway again, only this time
they came home with a win.
In
the first half the Lady Pilots built a 35-31 lead over the Patriots.
They continued to build on that lead in the second with some frequent
stops to the free throw line. LSUS made 19-20 free throw attempts
in the second half, and finished 30-35 from the line in the game.
That proved to be the difference as the Lady Pilots went on to defeat
UT-Tyler 70-56.
Lady Pilot Renalda Stafford continued to torment opposing defenses
as she piled up a game high 25 points, to go along with 8 rebounds
and 4 assists. Kaki Neck played what may have been her strongest
game of the year collecting a season high 12 points.
LSUS improved their record to 2-4 on the season and will have a
well deserved week off to prepare for their next game, Dec. 4, when
they will face off against Texas College. The Lady Pilots defeated
Texas College in their home opener Nov. 18.
