LSUS Fall Commencement set for CenturyTel Center 11/10/03

LSUS Summer-Fall 2003 Commencement Exercises is set for 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 17, at the CenturyTel Center in Bossier City. U.S. Army 1st Lt. Brandon R. Friedman, of Shreveport, a 2000 LSUS graduate with a Bachelor of Arts degree in history, will deliver the Commencement Address.

Friedman, who served two years in Afghanistan and Iraq as an officer in Bravo Company, 1st Battalion, 187th Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne Division, has been named the 2003 LSUS Alumnus of the Year and will formally receive that honor at commencement. In recognition of his meritorious service in combat, Friedman has been awarded two Army Bronze Star medals, one for his actions in Afghanistan, the other for his actions in Iraq.

More than 200 LSUS summer and fall graduates will participate in commencement, which will be attended by an estimated 2,500 to 3,000 people.
