Lincoln Center to host Third World conference

surrounding the 20th anniversary of the LSUS International Lincoln
Center for American Studies continue this week when the center hosts
the 21st Annual Meeting of the Association of Third World Studies.
The conference is free and open to the public.
The
event, the center’s second international conference of the
fall academic semester, will begin at 7:30 p.m. Thursday (Nov. 6)
in the LSUS University Center with a presentation by Dr. Michael
Sartisky, president and executive director of the Louisiana Endowment
for the Humanities, titled “Louisiana and the Third World.”
Sessions
will be conducted in the University Center all day Friday and Saturday
(Nov. 7-8), with 125 scholars from all parts of the United States
and many other countries discussing issues involving the Third World
– developing nations in Africa, Latin America, and Asia.
