professor to conduct 14-hour supervision seminar

Dr.
Lisa A. Burke, an LSUS associate professor of management, will conduct
a 14-hour seminar on effective supervision from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
on consecutive Saturdays, Nov. 8 and 15. This seminar, offered through
the LSUS Division of Continuing Education and Public Service, is
tailored for anyone in a supervisory or managerial position who
wants to learn how to create and maintain a high-performance team.
In
the seminar, students will learn to use free, Web-based self-assessment
tools of supervisory skills; how to identify basic factors influencing
employee performance; how to analyze performance problems and causes;
the key federal employment laws; to generate ideas for dealing with
problem employees, and to coach different types of performers.
Burke
received her Ph.D. in human resource management and organizational
behavior from Indiana University and worked for more than three
years in finance and accounting for Eli Lilly & Company in Indianapolis.
She is in her fifth years on the LSUS College of Business Administration
faculty and has been nominated as one of the top 20 professors by
the LSUS Student Government Association all three years that award
has been given.
The
