colloquium to feature Governors Association head

“The
State Fiscal Crisis and Restructuring Medicaid” will be discussed
by Dr. Raymond Scheppach, executive director of the National Governors
Association, Friday, Nov. 7, on the third floor of the Noel Memorial
Library on the LSUS campus.
Scheppach’s
presentation is the second session of the three-part Health Care
Colloquium Series sponsored by the LSUS Institute for Human Services
and Public Policy. The colloquium runs from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
and is free. It is open to the public, but seating is limited. To

Registration
and continental breakfast is from 8:30 to 9 a.m., with the seminar
and presentation from 9 to 10:30 a.m. A question and answer session
will be from 10:45 a.m. to noon, followed by a luncheon and a case
study presentation until 1 p.m.
Scheppach
was appointed executive director of the National Governors Association
(NGA) in January 1983. He oversees the day-to-day operations of
the association and works closely with NGA leadership to identify
priorities for the nation’s governors.
He
has written many professional articles on various public policy
issues and has authored or co-authored four books on economics,
including New Directions in Economic Policy: An Agenda for the 1980’s,
a book he co-authored in 1984.
Scheppach
worked for seven years at the Congressional Budget Office, serving
the last two years as Deputy Director.
He
received a bachelor’s degree in business administration from
the University of Maine, and master’s and doctorate degrees
in economics from the University of Connecticut.
