Noel Library to host
historic photograph exhibit, book party

The Noel Memorial Library Archives is hosting an exhibit of the historic photographs of Burch and William Grabill, Friday, October 24, from 1 to 4 p.m. on the third floor of the library building on the LSUS campus. The new book, Photo by Grabill: A Legacy of Images, will be for sale, and authors will be present to sign books and discuss the Grabills’ contribution to community historic preservation.

This will be a photographic celebration of the work of Burch and William Grabill, two of Shreveport’s most gifted photographers. Their professional legacy of photographic negatives and prints, generously donated by the Grabill family to the Noel Library, represents one of the largest and most important visual archives of area history of the 20th Century.

The exhibit will be on view throughout the month of November. Exhibit hours are 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, and 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesdays.

Photo by Grabill is available at the Noel Memorial Library during the same hours. This heirloom-quality coffee table book sells for $35. To have copies mailed, call 318-797-5378 for an order form.
