at Homeland Security Fair
09/24/03

The Shreveport-Bossier Medical Reserve Corps, which is coordinated by the LSUS Institute for Human Services and Public Policy, will sign up volunteers and provide free training for them at the Homeland Security Fair Saturday at Pierre Bossier Mall.

The fair, sponsored by the local Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness, will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and will feature display tables hosted by a number of local emergency organizations such as the American Red Cross, the Citizen Corps Council, Community Emergency Response Teams and the MRC.

The fair is designed to provide citizens with information and training on what to do in the event of an emergency.

The MRC will sign up volunteers all day and will provide them with free training from 1-4 p.m. For information about the MRC, contact Michelle Landrum, development coordinator for the IHSPP, at 318-795-4261 or mlandrum@lsus.edu.
