institute to host social entrepreneurship summit

The LSUS Institute
for Human Services and Public Policy will host the first Red River
Summit for Social Entrepreneurship from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday,
Oct. 8, on the third floor of Noel Memorial Library.
The conference
is designed for representatives of nonprofit organizations interested
in social entrepreneurship. Participants will interact with academicians
and consultants involved in social entrepreneurship and gain the
knowledge necessary to begin an entrepreneurial endeavor.
The conference
will feature sessions by Jerr Boschee, founder and executive director
of the Institute for Social Entrepreneurs; Stewart Hamel, president
of Empire Business Consultants, Inc., and Dr. Norman A. Dolch, director
of the LSUS Institute for Human Services and Public Policy.
Focus groups
will be led by John Rankin, president and CEO of North Louisiana
Goodwill Industries; the Rev. Henry Martin, executive director of
the Shreveport-Bossier Rescue Mission; Maj. Stephen Long, commanding
officer of the Salvation Army, and Dr. Bernard Wagner, president
of Evergreen Presbyterian Ministries, Inc.
The $60 registration
fee includes all meals, materials and the first year’s membership
in The Red River Academy of Social Entrepreneurs. To register or
