Pilots to return to campus
early Friday evening
05/29/03
LSUS
Athletic Director Doug Robinson said in a telephone conversation
Thursday afternoon that the LSUS Pilots will return to campus from
the NAIA World Series with their national tournament third place
win tomorrow (Friday, May 30) between 6 and 6:30 p.m. The team will
take a bus from Dallas-Ft. Worth Airport and come to the parking
lot south of the Health and Physical Education Building.
The
campus and the community is invited and encouraged to greet the
team and congratulate the players on their outstanding accomplishments
this season: A 52-24 record (an all-time school high number of wins),
winning the NAIA Region XIII Championship and the Atlantic South
Super Regional Championship, and finishing in third place in its
first-ever appearance in the NAIA World Series. In finishing third,
the Pilots lost twice to the No. 1 seed in the tournament (Oklahoma
City University has also been No. 1 in the nation all season), but
blew out the No. 2 seed, 14-4, to reach the Final Four.
We
will issue another advisory tomorrow afternoon after the team arrives
at DFW and give a more definite arrival time in Shreveport.
