AEP SWEPCO to sponsor educator workshop at LSUS 05/20/03

AEP SWEPCO is sponsoring a three-day workshop June 16-18 at LSUS for elementary and secondary school teachers in Caddo, Bossier and DeSoto parishes. The hands-on workshop, “Introductory Course to Scientific Inquiry,” is limited to the first 40 teachers who register to attend. The registration deadline is June 6.

Dr. Ronald N. Geise, who received a bachelor’s degree from SUNY College at Buffalo, and a master’s degree and Ed.D at Temple University, will conduct the workshop. It will cover science learning strategies for students and incorporating practical strategies into science classrooms and competitions.

The Monday-Wednesday (June 16-18) workshop will begin at 9 a.m. and end at 4 p.m. each day. Lunch will be provided each day. Instruction and exercises will fill the class time Monday and Tuesday (June 16-17), while field tours will be conducted Wednesday (June 18). Participants completing the course will receive one hour of graduate credit from LSUS. AEP SWEPCO will pay all costs for the course, including the graduate credit fee.
