director earns Ph.D. 12/06/01 Marguerite
Plummer, an assistant professor of history and director of the Pioneer Heritage
Center at LSU in Shreveport, has successfully completed the requirements for a
doctorate in humanities - history of ideas from the University of Texas at Dallas.
Marguerite
is a valued member of our university community and a proven scholar, LSUS
Chancellor Dr. Vincent Marsala said in announcing Plummers doctorate. In
the late 70s, she gave up cattle-raising and enrolled at LSUS. Plummers
is one of more than 100 doctorates at the comprehensive, regional university.
Of the 131 full-time faculty members on the LSUS campus, 80 percent hold the highest
degrees awarded in their academic fields. In
1981, Plummer received a Bachelor of Arts degree in communications from LSUS.
She earned a Master of Business Administration degree from LSUS in 1984, and a
Master of Liberal Arts degree from LSUS in 1987. Her doctorate was awarded Nov.
