to hear about chemistry for TV
10/29/02
Dr. Thomas A.
Holme, associate professor of chemistry at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee,
will discuss “Chemistry, Live in Your Living Room” at
the American Chemical Society meeting Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. at
Don’s Seafood & Steak House.
Holme’s talk with
include chemistry demonstrations that fit neatly into the short
time slots of modern news coverage, as well as the media perspective
of what makes “good television.” Video clips of some
successful appearances and some blunders show what chemistry looks
like as it goes live into living rooms around Milwaukee.
Holme does science research
in computational chemistry, where his interests lie in the study
of main group elements that play a role in physiological activities
of molecules or surfaces.
Reservations are necessary.
The cost is $15 for members, guests and visitors, $7 for college
and high school chemistry students. Contact Dr. Elizabeth Zippi,
assistant professor of chemistry at LSUS, 797-5305 or ezippi@lsus.edu.
