LSUS
sponsors Times 9-11 special edition
09/06/02
LSUS is the
exclusive advertising sponsor of a special Sept. 11 commemorative
edition of The (Shreveport) Times published for distribution
to high schools and middle schools throughout Northwest Louisiana.
The special edition will be available at convenient locations all
over the LSUS campus.
“We jumped
at the opportunity to be the exclusive sponsor of this commemorative
9-11 edition,” said Gregg Trusty, LSUS director of media and
public relations. “It allows the university to play a significant
role in the local observance of what was then one of the darkest
days in American history and has since become one of the greatest
rallying points for patriotism and national unity. Through our sponsorship
of this edition, LSUS is graphically demonstrating the excellence
students and the community can expect from their university.”
The 16-page
special edition features articles and photographs – both national
and local – commemorating the tragic events of Sept. 11, 2001,
and America’s reaction to the terrorist attacks. The front
and back covers of the edition carry a comprehensive list of those
who lost their lives in the attacks. Page 15 is a full-page LSUS
ad featuring a photograph made on campus Aug. 29 in front of the
University Center.
The special edition is
being distributed to all high school students in Caddo, Bossier,
DeSoto, Webster, Claiborne and Red River parishes, and to seventh
and eighth grade students in Caddo and Bossier parishes. In addition,
at least 3,000 copies of the edition are earmarked for distribution
on the LSUS campus. The edition is also being made available to
the Centenary College, Southern University-Shreveport and Bossier
Parish Community College campuses. A total of 36,000 copies of the
LSUS-sponsored special edition have been printed.
The same special
edition, with different sponsorship, will be distributed with the
regular Wednesday edition of The Times.
