Lincoln Center to Host Luncheon and Lecture by Acclaimed Historian
John Barry as Part of Its Distinguished Lecture Series

La. -- LSUS International Lincoln Center Distinguished Lecture
Series will host a luncheon and lecture featuring nationally renowned
historian John Barry on Wednesday, October 31, 2001 at Noon in the
Harrah's Hotel Ballroom.
During the Luncheon
Barry will discuss America's pastime of the pursuit and welding
of power which is featured in his new novel, Power Plays: Politics,
Football, and Other Blood Sports. In the novel he uses numerous
examples and profiles which show how much politics and powerful
agendas affect our lives.
This is the second trip to LSUS for Barry. In 1998, he was a featured
speaker at the first installment of the American Studies Cross Currents
Series: Rivers, Roads, and Rails, a series of three conference examining
conferences that examined the historical significance of transportation
for America and has brought internationally renowned speakers and
scholars to the LSUS campus. At the time, Barry had just published
in best selling novel, The Rising Tide.
