LSUS to confer
286 degrees May 15 05/07/02
LSU in Shreveport
will confer 286 degrees at its spring commencement Wednesday, May
15, at Expo Hall in Shreveport.
The university
will confer 244 bachelors degrees, 41 masters degrees
and one Specialist in School Psychology degree. Among the masters
degrees will be 16 Master of Business Administration degrees, the
largest graduating class in the history of the LSUS MBA program.
Following the
commencement address by Dr. Leon R. Tarver II, president of Louisianas
Southern University System, LSUS Chancellor Dr. Vince Marsala will
present the graduates with their diplomas. C. Stuart Slack, of Shreveport,
will confer the degrees for the LSU System Board of Supervisors.
The College
of Liberal Arts leads the universitys four colleges with 97
graduates, followed by the College of Business Administration with
77. The College of Education will graduate 65 students and the College
of Sciences will graduate 47.
The College
of Liberal Arts will confer the Master of Arts, Master of Science,
Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Criminal Justice and Bachelor of General
Studies degrees, while the College of Business Administration will
confer the MBA and Bachelor of Science degrees. The College of Education
will graduate students with Master of Education, Specialist in School
Psychology, Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science degrees, and
the College of Sciences will present Master of Science and Bachelor
of Science degrees.
The vast majority
of graduates, 262, are from towns in Northwest Louisiana. Another
11 graduates are from other parts of Louisiana, while 13 are from
other states. They span the state, as well as the country. Across
the state, they come from Ida to New Orleans, Delhi to Lake Charles
and other cities and towns in between. In all, the graduating class
represents 10 states from coast to coast North Carolina to
California and border to border Montana to Louisiana.
They also come from Arkansas, Colorado, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada
and Texas.
