LSUS to induct
12 into business honor society
04/08/02
Only a select
few are called "The Best in Business," and 12 LSUS College
of Business Administration students have earned the title this year.
The elite dozen - two graduate students, six seniors and four juniors
- will be inducted into the LSUS chapter of Beta Gamma Sigma, the
honor society serving business programs accredited by AACSB (the
Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business) International.
The induction
ceremony will be Wednesday (April 10) at 5:30 p.m. in the Noel Memorial
Library on the campus of LSU in Shreveport.
Cynthia Harju
Baldwin, of Shreveport, and Anthony Steven Evangelista, of Bossier
City, are the graduate students to be inducted. The seniors are
David Levon Cannon, April Lynn Doughty, Cassandra Allena Smyth and
Jeannine Paula Watts, all of Bossier City; and Pratima Ram and Candace
D. Williamson, both of Shreveport. The juniors are Charles Edward
Tabor, of Bossier City; Deborah Jeanne Windham, of Doyline; and
Rebecca Anne Dean and Amy Renee Lafitte, both of Shreveport.
Nearly 300,000
students receive bachelor's or master's degrees in business nationwide
each year, but only about 16,000 are elected to lifetime membership
in Beta Gamma Sigma. To be eligible for invitation to membership,
juniors must rank in the top 7 percent of their class, seniors in
the top 10 percent of their class and master's degree candidates
must rank in the top 20 percent of their programs at AACSB-accredited
schools.
Beta Gamma Sigma
was founded as a national organization in 1913. Its mission is to
encourage and honor academic achievement and personal excellence
in the study and practice of business. The society fosters in its
members an enduring commitment to its principles and values: honor
and integrity, pursuit of wisdom and earnestness.
