total of 267 LSUS students graduated with a variety of degrees at
commencement exercises Dec. 17 at CenturyTel Center. Of the total,
92 completed requirements for their degrees at the end of the summer
2003 term. The other 175 finished in the fall semester.

LSUS hit the court tonight against the Xavier College Gold Rush
in their first conference game of the year. Early in the first half

Chad McDowell and his LSUS Pilots took the floor Monday night looking
for revenge of an early season 103-84 loss to Jarvis Christian College.
As soon as the Pilots gained possession of the ball, they put all
memories of the past away and buried the Bulldogs, 89-74.

Monday night. In the first half of play the two teams went to work

The LSUS Pilots traveled to Jackson, Miss., to take on the Millsaps
College Majors. LSUS entered the contest with a 3-4 record, with
six of those contests being on the road. The Pilots improved their
record to 4-4 with a 75-63 victory over the Majors.

not 'Demonized,' but drop contest, 88-80

The LSUS Pilots were defeated by Northwestern State University Tuesday
night, 88-80. While the loss puts LSUS at 3-4 on the season, their
performance put LSUS on the map. Going into the game with the Demons,
many people did not expect much out of the first-year NAIA upstarts
from LSUS taking on the NCAA Division I program from Natchitoches.
And, nobody expected LSUS to control the first half and lead the
contest with 10 minutes remaining in the game.

Chad McDowell and his LSUS Pilots went to East Texas Baptist University
looking for their first two game win streak of the season Monday
night. Going into halftime the Pilots were looking good against
the ETBU Tigers with a four point lead and the momentum from a 10-4

Head coach Chad McDowell and his LSUS Pilots stole a victory from
the University of Texas at Tyler Patriots Friday night. The Patriots
were hosting their first game of the year and were supported by
a crowd of 1800 fans in their spectacular new arena.

Lady Pilots took the floor in Tyler, Texas, Saturday night versus
the University of Texas at Tyler Patriots. A trip to Conway, Ark.,
Friday saw the Lady Pilots drop a heartbreaker to Hendrix College.
Saturday, the women hit the highway again, only this time they came
home with a win.

The
LSUS Lady Pilots traveled to Conway, Ark., Friday to take on the
Hendrix College Warriors. The Lady Pilots found themselves with
a two point lead with only two minutes remaining. A couple of three-point
baskets made by the Warriors Kacey Sommers near the end of regulation,
however, lifted Hendrix College to a 50-46 victory over LSUS.

After the LSUS Lady Pilots earned their first win of the season
Tuesday night, the LSUS men's basketball team got their first taste
of home court advantage against the Texas College Steers. With a
sold-out crowd, the Pilots cruised to a 97-87 victory, and improved
their record to 2-2 on the season.

The LSUS Lady Pilots concluded their stay at the John Brown University
Classic in Siloam Springs, Arkansas with a defeat at the hands of
the College of the Ozarks Bobcats. In the first half the Bobcats
opened up a 13 point lead which they continued to build on in the
second half. The final score ended 77-53 in favor of the Bobcats.

After a win
Thursday night versus Bethel College, the LSUS Pilots took the floor
searching for their second victory Friday afternoon against Tip-Off
Classic host Central Baptist Mustangs of Conway, Ark.. The contest
got off to a quick start behind the hot hand of Pilots guard Chavis
Rose who poured in 12 points in the first 10 minutes of the half.
The first half was a see-saw battle which ended with the Pilots
taking a 47-42 lead into the locker room at halftime.

the LSUS men’s basketball team huddled around head coach Chad
McDowell before taking the floor for their first contest of the
year they roared, “1-2-3-TOGETHER!” The Pilots went

by Rico Payne, and they never looked back.
