Simons-Lincove Scholarships in International Studies will be awarded
on December 5, 2002, in a ceremony on the third floor of the Noel
Memorial Library. The deadline for submitting an application to
Dr. Megan Conway for the two $750 scholarships is November 21. Recipients
will be selected by faculty members in the Department of Fine Arts,
Foreign Languages and Humanities.

Dr. E. Joseph Savoie, Louisiana commissioner of higher
education, presented two $40,000 checks representing the state Board
of Regents’ matching funds for two endowed professorships
at LSUS.
Bridger
named LSUS College of Education dean

Dr. Gale Bridger, whose formal affiliation with LSUS began
in 1975, was named dean of the College of Education, effective Aug.
1. The appointment marks the second time in eight years she has
been asked to serve as dean of the college.

Basic
business education program scheduled 07/25/02
The
Basic Business Education Program, a 12-week entrepreneurial training
program, will be offered from Sept. 3 to Dec. 3. The program, now
in its 16th year, is co-sponsored by the LSUS Small Business Development
Center, the Greater Shreveport Chamber of Commerce and the City
of Shreveport.

Caddo-Bossier students complete LaPREP

A group of middle school students from throughout Caddo
and Bossier parishes are better prepared to complete a college degree
in math, science or engineering because of their participation in
the 11th Annual Louisiana Preparatory Program at LSU in Shreveport.
The 56 students were honored this afternoon at an awards ceremony,
for which U.S. 5th Circuit Court of Appeals Judge Carl Stewart was
the featured speaker.

ROUGE -- The Board of Regents for higher education this week is
sending almost 60,000 letters to parents of 9th grade students around
the state, reminding them that their sons and daughters will be
the first class to be affected by the Regents' new college admissions

BATON ROUGE - The Louisiana Board of Regents for higher
education today (Thursday, Jan. 24) terminated 15 low-enrollment
degree and certificate programs at six state colleges and universities

Seminars, intensive seminars on international trade, are scheduled
for Feb. 19-21 at the LSUS Small Business Development Center. The
seminars will be presented by the Louisiana International Trade
Center of the University of New Orleans. Cost is $60 for one seminar
or $120 for two or three seminars.
