Weightlifters to Compete in Turkey

Two weightlifters training at the USA Weightlifting Center for High Performance and Development at LSU Shreveport will represent the United States at the World Weightlifting Championships in Antalya, Turkey. Erin Wallace and Kendrick Farris are among the eight men and seven women competing for the United States. There are 563 athletes competing from 81 countries. The event began on September 17th and will continue through September 26. Wallace will lift on September 23 and Farris on the September 24.
Wallace, a graduate of LSUS, is a teacher at Rusheon Middle School. This is her first time as a member of the World Team. She finished 6th place in the 75 kg category at the Pan American Championships this past June in Guatemala City. This will be the 4th time for Farris to compete in the World Championships. He finished 8th at the 2008 Olympic Games and recently won the 85 kg category at the Pan American Championships. Dr. Kyle Pierce, a professor at LSUS, is the Head Coach for the Men's Team.
