The 9th Annual LSUS Alumni Association Capital One Pilots Golf Classic will fire off with an 11 a.m. shotgun start Friday, May 4, 2007 at Olde Oaks Golf Club in Haughton, La. Capital One Bank will serve as signature sponsor for the event and Congressman Jim McCrery has signed on as honorary tournament director.

In its history, the tournament has raised more than $100,000. Proceeds benefit LSUS athletic scholarships and academic scholarships. On hand for the event: LSUS Athletic Director Doug Robinson, Head Men’s Basketball Coach Chad McDowell, Head Women’s Basketball Coach Ronnie Howell, Head Baseball Coach Rocke Musgraves and Women’s Soccer Coach Jed Jones.

The 18-hole tournament will be played on all three Olde Oaks courses, Oak, Meadow and Cypress. There are three flights, all by handicap. A total of 48 team slots are available, but only five are left due to the overwhelming popularity of the tournament.

Tournament features include six Hole-In-One Contests sponsored by Landers Dodge and Courtesy Golf Cars, the Campus Federal Credit Union Putting Contest, the Chancellor’s Challenge, a silent auction and awards ceremony. First place prizes in each flight are overnight golfing packages at Cypress Bend Golf Resort in Many, La. Additional team prizes will be awarded through at least sixth place.

Meals will be provided by McAlister’s Deli and Texas Roadhouse. Beverage sponsors are G&G Distributing, Coca-Cola Bottling Company of Shreveport and Music Mountain Water Company. Sign and printing sponsors are Graphic Industries, Signs At Work and Insty-Prints.

The silent auction features LSU home game University Suite tickets with a hotel package, signed New Orleans Saints and other professional sports memorabilia, 2007-2008 Bossier- Shreveport Mudbugs Gold Level Season Tickets, signed Jazz Fest posters, jewelry, cultural event tickets, restaurant packages and several additional surprises.

The entry fee covers greens fee, electric cart, practice range, tournament gifts, mulligans, celebrity driver coupons, door prize tickets, box lunch, beverages, supper and the chance to win fantastic prizes. Team sponsorship levels range from $650 to $2,500. Fairway sponsorships with course signage only are also available at $250.
