Shreveport Metropolitan Concert Band at LSUS will perform its Fall Concert

The Shreveport Metropolitan Concert Band at LSUS will perform its Fall Concert on Sunday afternoon, October 13, 2013, at 4:00 pm.  The concert will be held in the courtyard of the Administration Building on the campus of LSUS.  This is the first concert at this location, and attendees are requested to bring their lawn chairs, and blankets to enjoy an open air concert.  Our weather policy is: If it is raining at the concert site at concert time, the program will be cancelled.

This concert will include a variety of musical styles including:  "Light Cavalry Overture" by von Suppe, "Amazing Grace" arranged by Frank Tichelli, "Colonel Bogey March" by Kenneth Alford, music from "Man of LaMancha" , "Tuba Tiger Rag" featuring a tuba solo, "General Lee March" by Karl King, a medley of movie themes titled: "Hooray For Hollywood", "Swings The Thing" an arrangement by Warren Barker, and close with "The Stars And Stripes Forever" by John Philip Sousa.

The Shreveport Metropolitan Concert Band at LSUS is a community band, made up of individuals who love making music and perform in public.  The members are from all walks of life, and include players from age 16 to over 90 years of age.  This band has been in operation since 1984, and is the oldest, continuously operating concert band in the Shreveport / Bossier area.  The band has performed extensively in the ARKLATEX area since it was founded.
