Richard H. Jones to Speak at LSUS Chancellor’s Speaker Series

Shreveport, LA- The Chancellor’s Speaker Series at LSUS will host career Foreign Service Officer Richard H. Jones at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 29 in the Science Lecture Auditorium.

As a retired US ambassador, Richard H. Jones has spent nearly 38 years in public service, including 32 years as a US Foreign Service Officer and 5 years at the International Energy Agency (IEA) in Paris, France.

As a Foreign Service Office, Jones served abroad in France, Tunisia, Saudia Arabia (twice), Lebanon, Kazakhstan, Kuwait, Iraq and Israel.  He also served three tours at the Department of State in Washington.  His ambassadorial posts were in Lebanon, Kazakhstan, Kuwait and Israel.  During his posting in Kuwait, he also served for seven months as the Deputy Administrator of the Coalition Provisional Authority in Iraq. 

Upon his retirement from the Foreign Service, Jones joined the IEA where he served as the Deputy Executive Director of the Agency.  Since leaving the IEA in 2013, he has been an independent consultant.  In 2015, he also accepted a temporary appointment from the State Department to serve as the Chargé d’Affaires (acting Ambassador) in Beirut.

Join us as Mr. Jones speaks on the State Department and his career in the Foreign Service.  He will also offer some insights into the current situation in the Middle East.  After his talk, he will take questions from the Floor.
