FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

SHREVEPORT, LA- LSUS student Austin Helms received a $10,000 academic scholarship from the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB) https://pcaobus.org/ for the 2018-2019 academic year. After graduation, Austin plans to pursue a graduate degree in accounting and sit for the CPA exam.

Austin credits a much of his success to opportunities afforded to him at LSUS. “The business school at LSUS is furthering my education by strengthening my analytical skills, improving how I manage my time, and increasing the network of individuals that are leading me to success,” Austin said. “I would like to thank my advisor Dr. Rick Parker for the guidance, encouragement, and advice he has provided for me. I am extremely lucky to have an advisor who cares so much about my future success.”

Many students don’t take advantage of opportunities to apply for scholarships or aid, counting themselves out of the running without even trying, but Austin is grateful for the encouragement he received in applying.

“Receiving this scholarship is a huge blessing for me; it means all my hard work has really paid off. A lot of people say there isn’t help out there, but this shows that there is help out there. I will always have people to thank for financial help and for my accomplishments. This scholarship, for me, is not the end but just the beginning.”
