LSUS Sees Record Breaking Enrollment Numbers

September 19, 2017

The Fall 2017 semester at LSUS saw record-breaking numbers in the university’s enrollment history with a total of 5,797 students. This figure represents a 24 percent increase from the Fall 2016 semester.

This growth comes during a time of great opportunities for LSUS.  Soccer has returned to campus, a new Student Success Center that includes a coffee shop has been created to offer academic support to students, and academic achievement continues to be the focal point for the university.

Fall semester numbers have increased steadily since 2014, with the greatest gain in graduate enrollment at a 52 percent increase over last year. The student body continues grow in diversity with over fifty percent of the population represented by minorities.

“We are pleased to see our growth continue as we celebrate our 50th anniversary in the community,” said LSUS Chancellor Larry Clark. “We are committed to ensuring that all LSUS students grow, excel, and benefit from a student-centered college experience.”

This growth accompanies exciting changes for LSUS.  Our academics continue to be strong and we have graduated our first five Doctors of Education.  A beautifully designed Student Success Center that includes a coffee shop is now open, while Athletics has been enhanced by the return of soccer to campus.  As an added bonus, our teams have helped increase the number of our International Students this year.
