LSU Shreveport Maintains Prestigious AACSB Business Accreditation
May 06, 2013
The LSU Shreveport School of Business has maintained its business accreditation by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB International). Founded in 1916, AACSB International is the longest serving global accrediting body for business schools that offer undergraduate, master's, and doctoral degrees in business and accounting.
AACSB Accreditation is the hallmark of excellence in business education, and has been earned by fewer than five percent of the world's collegiate business programs. Today, there are 672 business schools in 50 countries and territories that maintain AACSB Accreditation.
"It takes a great deal of commitment and determination to earn and maintain AACSB Accreditation," said Robert D. Reid, executive vice president and chief accreditation officer of AACSB International. "Business schools must not only meet specific standards of excellence, but their deans, faculty, and professional staff must make a commitment to ongoing continuous improvement to ensure that the institution will continue to deliver the highest quality of education to students."
The LSUS School of Business serves a diverse body of traditional and non-traditional students and offers an undergraduate degree including five undergraduate majors as well as two graduate programs, the Master of Business Administration and the Master of Health Administration. The School of Business enrolls over 700 undergraduate students and more than 100 graduate students.
Dr. Douglas S. Bible, Associate Dean, commented "that the continued accreditation represents a significant and meaningful endorsement that the School of Business is fulfilling its mission of providing high quality education, research, and service programs in Business at LSU Shreveport."
"It is only through the commitment of the School of Business faculty and their dedication to continued excellence in teaching, research and service that the LSUS School of Business is able to maintain this valued accreditation," added Dr. David Gustavson, Dean.
"The AACSB's decision represents a strong external statement reflecting the quality and rigor of our programs and faculty in the School of Business," noted Dr. John S. Vassar, Interim Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs.
"LSUS is very proud of our School of Business - we know the exceptional quality of our business programs, and it's always nice to receive this sort of external recognition as well," acknowledged Dr. Paul Sisson, Interim Chancellor.
AACSB's mission is to advance quality management education worldwide through accreditation, thought leadership, and value-added services. As the premier accreditation body for institutions offering undergraduate, master's, and doctorate degrees in business and accounting, the association also conducts a wide array of conferences and seminar programs at locations throughout the world. AACSB's global headquarters is located in Tampa, Florida, USA and its Asia Pacific headquarters is located in Singapore.
