LSUS Lincoln Center Receives National Award

Shreveport, LA- On its 35th anniversary, the International Lincoln Center received the Wendy Allen Award for Institutional Excellence at the Lincoln Forum Symposium on November 16th-18th in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. The award was accompanied by a framed color print of Abraham Lincoln, which will be housed in the International Lincoln Center at LSUS in 323 Bronson Hall.

 

The award was presented by the Hon. Frank J. Williams, the retired Chief Justice of the Rhode Island Supreme Court.  It was presented to Dr. William D. Pederson, the founder of the International Lincoln Center. The Lincoln Forum is one of the largest Lincoln organizations in the United States, and it holds its annual fall Symposium in Gettysburg.

 

Last year the Wendy Allen award went to the group dedicated to preserving the Lincoln Collection in Fort Wayne, Indiana which publishes Lincoln Lore.  In previous years, the award went to such organizations as the Friends of Ford’s Theatre in Washington, D.C.; President Lincoln’s Cottage at the Soldier’s Home in Washington, D.C.; the Lincoln Home National Historical Site in Springfield, IL; the Lincoln Shrine in Redlands, CA; and the Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History in New York City.
