LSU Shreveport Human Resources Concentration Aligns With National Standards
January 08, 2013
Louisiana State University in Shreveport announced today that its HR concentration related to the Bachelor of Science in Management and Administration has been acknowledged by the National Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) as being fully aligned with their HR Curriculum Guidebook and Templates. The HR Curriculum Guidebook and Templates were developed by SHRM to define the minimum HR content areas that should be studied by HR students at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
Worldwide, only 299 programs in 230 educational institutions have been acknowledged by SHRM as being in alignment with its suggested guides and templates. The guidelines, created in 2006 and revalidated in 2010, are part of SHRM’s Academic Initiative to define HR education standards taught in university business schools and help universities develop degree programs that follow these standards.
“We are gratified that what we have done and continue to do in our existing HR concentration aligns with the standards set by National SHRM,” said Dr. Felice Williams, Faculty Advisor for LSUS SHRM. “We feel strongly that having a SHRM aligned program gives our students a unique advantage as they develop within our business program and more importantly, when they enter the business world as HR professionals.”
“This is a great achievement for the Department of Management and Marketing, the School of Business, and LSUS. It reflects how serious we are about making sure education is our top priority,” said Dr. Paul Sisson, Interim Chancellor. “This alignment shows just how hard our faculty work to provide innovative, first rate education to our students.”
