LSU SHREVEPORT GRADUATE DEGREE NAME CHANGE EMBRACES 21ST NONRPOFIT SECTOR PROJECTIONS

The Institute for Human Services and Public Policy (IHSPP) at LSU-Shreveport is pleased to announce the graduate program, Master of Science in Human Services Administration, has been renamed Master of Science in Nonprofit Administration.   The name change occurs as course offerings have been expanded to include concentrations in program planning and management, disaster management, as well as a traditional thesis option.  According to Program Director, Dr. Helen Wise, the name change was a result of local and national research incorporating what employers in the sector look for when hiring new employees in the nonprofits.   "In making the decision to change the program name and course content, we wanted to give students the most marketable name and skills to open avenues of employment ", said Dr. Wise.

The Master of Science in Nonprofit Administration offers an advanced degree in nonprofit administration and develops leadership skills for managing nonprofit organizations.  Classes are taught by nonprofit professionals.  This degree is available 100% online, targeted for those who are already involved in nonprofit work, those looking to transition from the public or private sectors, or are looking for an advanced degree and professional development.  Deadlines to register for the Masters of Nonprofit Administration are April 30th for the Summer 2013 semester and June 30th for the Fall 2013 semester.
