LSUS at the Louisiana Biomedical Research Network (LBRN) meeting

LSUS faculty and students from Departments of Chemistry and Physics, Biological Science, and Computer Science attended the annual Louisiana Biomedical Research Network (LBRN) meeting.The group gave two oral presentations (Professors Brian Salvatore and William Yu), along with ten poster presentations, which included Professors Urska Cvek, William Yu, Elahe Mahdavian, Brian Salvatore, Dr. Alena Smith, plus eight LSUS graduate students, and four 

undergraduates. This event was held in the Baton Rouge Hilton on Friday-Sunday (January 20-22, 2017).

LSUS Chemistry Professor Dr. William Yu received the first-place award among university faculty statewide for his oral presentation on his group's research involving nanotechnology-based biosensors.

LSUS Chemistry student, Quintin Richardson was awarded third-place among undergraduate students statewide for his poster 

presentation on the synthesis of a novel caffeic acid derivative that shows potent anti-cancer activity against triple negative breast cancer cells. Quintin performed his research with Dr. 

Salvatore and Dr. Mahdavian.
