LSU Shreveport to Host Regional Social Studies Fair; Judges Needed
January 30, 2012
The 37th Annual Region I Social Studies Fair will be held on Thursday, March 8, 2012 in the University Center on the LSU Shreveport campus. The Fair is sponsored by The Division of Continuing Education and Public Service at LSUS.
Students in grades four through 12, who represent public and private schools in Caddo, Bossier, Desoto, Red River and Webster parishes, will submit projects to be judged in the fields of anthropology, economics, geography, history, Louisiana history, political science and sociology. First and second place winners are eligible for participation in the State Social Studies Fair to be held in May in Lake Charles, La.
The Social Studies Fair is a significant effort of the LSUS faculty and the community's civic leadership to directly assist schools and children in the achievement of their educational goals. The Fair is made possible by those community leaders and civic organizational members who volunteer to serve as judges.
To ensure each project is shown adequate attention 100 judges are needed. If you are interested in judging, please contact Lottie Huckaby at 318-797-5311 by February 17. Judging orientation for the Fair is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. and judging will begin at 10 a.m.
