LSU Shreveport Professor Publishes Tenth Book

February 01, 2011
LSU Shreveport Professor William D. Pederson has published a new book, "Lincoln's Enduring Legacy. Perspectives from Great Thinkers, Great Leaders, and the American Experiment." It is being released this month by Lexington Books to commemorate Lincoln's 201st birthday and Presidents Day.

The book is co-edited with Robert Watson, the founding editor of "White House Studies," a political science journal, and director of American Studies at Lynn University in Florida. The 265 page volume contains new essays on topics ranging from Lincoln's impact on Leo Tolstoy, Martin Luther King, Jr., and several American presidents, as well as other essays showing how British philosopher John Stuart Mills influenced Lincoln.

Dr. John Marszalek, the Giles Distinguished Professor of History at Mississippi State University, describes the book as "well researched and well written," while Dr. Joseph Fornieri, Professor of Political Science at Rochester Institute of Technology states the book is "a veritable smorgasbord of stimulating and provocative reflections."

This is Pederson's second published book this year and his tenth book on Lincoln. Pederson is a professor of political science and holds the American Studies Endowed Chair at LSUS.
