LSU Shreveport Professor Appointed Squadron Commander

LSU Shreveport professor Dr. Leslie Fife was appointed Squadron Commander of the Barksdale Composite Squadron of the Civil Air Patrol. He is a Major in the Civil Air Patrol (CAP).

CAP is an auxiliary of the Air Force. There are currently 30 members in the Barksdale Composite Squadron, made up of both Cadets (ages 12-21) and adult members. There are approximately 570 members in Louisiana and over 60,000 members nationwide.  CAP has three congressionally mandated missions: emergency services, aerospace education and the cadet program. CAP performs or is involved in more than 80% of inland search and rescue operations in the United States and performs a variety of disaster relief and humanitarian missions.

Fife is the chair of the computer science department and has taught at LSU Shreveport since fall 2008.
