LSU Shreveport Political Science Professor Awarded Fellowship

LSU Shreveport Professor William D. Pederson has been awarded a fellowship from the Teachers Educating Across Cultures in Harmony (TEACH) program to visit the Middle East March 11-19, 2011.
He will be part of a group of educators to visit the 33 islands composing the Kingdom of Bahrain and Qatar in the Persian Gulf. Designed to encourage understanding and cooperation among educators in the U.S. and the Middle East, the group will visit the U.S. Embassy, Parliament and historic sites in Bhrain and Qatar, and the Economic Development Board in Bahrain.
The program is one of several sponsored by the Houston-headquartered Bilateral U.S. Arab Chamber of Commerce. It is best known for holding the Model Arab League Simulation for students.
Pederson teaches political science at LSU Shreveport. He is a Vietnam veteran and worked in the operations center at the U.S. Department of State prior to joining the faculty in 1981.
