LSU Shreveport Names Johnette McCrery as Interim Vice Chancellor of University Development

Dr. Johnette McCrery has been named Interim Vice Chancellor of University Development at LSU Shreveport. A former LSUS Communications faculty member and graduate of the MLA program, McCrery returns to the University with extensive experience in both print and broadcast journalism, public affairs, and community relations.

Prior to her appointment, she served as the Publisher for SB Magazine and was responsible for all operations within the magazine. She also co-hosted SB Video Magazine monthly on KMSS-TV Fox 33. Before joining SB Magazine, Dr. McCrery was a Vice President of Public Affairs with Ketchum, one of the largest public relations firms in the country, and she provided pro bono public relations services on the combined lobbying and public relations team for the Louisiana Recovery Authority, which helped secure $7.9 billion in federal funding for Katrina recovery efforts. McCrery also managed global communications for Joint Commission International, the largest accreditation organization for hospitals worldwide.

Dr. McCrery currently serves on the Boards of Directors for Providence House, the Biomedical Research Foundation, the Red River Revel's CORK Wine Festival, and the Norwela Council of the Boy Scouts of America. In addition, she is a member of the Committee of 100 and Downtown Rotary Club and served on the Northwest Louisiana Air Service Task Force, appointed by The Honorable Mayor Cedric B. Glover.

Dr. McCrery earned her Ph.D. in Mass Communications from the University of Maryland, College Park, in 2001; her Master of Arts in Liberal Arts from LSUS in 1996; and her Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from the University of Texas at Austin in 1989.
