LSU Shreveport Named 15th Most Affordable College in Nation by U.S. Department of Education
July 05, 2011
The U.S. Department of Education and the College Affordability and Transparency Center released rankings showing LSU Shreveport as the fifteenth-ranked university with the lowest net price for public, four-year institutions in the United States. This also makes LSUS the most affordable college in the State of Louisiana.
The net price is defined as the average price of attendance paid by full-time students after subtraction of grants and scholarships. LSU Shreveport's net price is $4,364 compared to the national average of $10,747.
LSU Shreveport Chancellor Dr. Vincent Marsala: "We have known for some time that LSUS is an outstanding buy for the citizens we serve. We are the 15th best buy nationally among all public four-year universities and the number one best buy in Louisiana. Our students and graduates earn an excellent higher education experience that prepares them for the jobs of the 21st century in our community, state and nation. LSUS graduates can compete with the best and are second to none."
The rankings were released as part of the Department's effort to help students make informed decisions about their choice for higher education. "These lists are a helpful tool for students and families as they determine what college or university is the best fit for them," said U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan.
