LSU Shreveport LEAD Program to Host LEAD Summit 2011

November 07, 2011
The inaugural LEAD Summit: Northwest Louisiana High School Student Leadership, Character and Ethics Development Conference will be held Friday, November 11, 2011 from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., at the LSU Shreveport University Center.

LEAD Summit is a one-day conference mirroring the National Conference on Ethics in America (NCEA) held at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point. The event will include a full day of speakers and mentor/mentee group discussions of leadership, ethics, honor, integrity and character.

Twenty area high schools will select 8-10 students to participate. Each student will be paired with a senior LSUS LEAD student trained in mentoring. Small group meetings will take place with a mentor facilitating an open discussion on topics brought up by speakers at the event. Groups will be made up of students from different high schools.

The purpose of the LEAD Summit is to introduce, promote and illustrate the principles of leadership and character development to area high school students while simultaneously instilling the concepts more intensely in the LSUS LEAD students through hosting, mentoring and teaching processes.
